Hello Ladies of the Household,
My journey as a Daughter of the Nile began in 2020 with Oronto Temple No. 69 – I was a recruit of my Sponsor & Mentor, Past Queen Joyce Anderson-Johnson. At the time, she told me, “Oh no, this won’t take up too much of your time.” Little did I know, it was the start of a journey filled with purpose and sisterhood! (As a side note, last year, I also became a plural member of Zarah Temple No. 72, Vancouver, British Columbia, my home city).
Immediately, I began serving in officer positions at the Subordinate Temple level. During the past two years, I was appointed and have served on the Supreme Temple’s Social Media, Technology and Communications Committee, comprised of ladies with strong technology and social media backgrounds. At this moment, we are rolling out our new CRM or Customer Relationship Management platform called OASIS. All membership, accounting, marketing, and member communications are being centralized and modernized offering a seamless exchange of information between the Supreme and Subordinate Temples. Oronto has been chosen
as one of the pilot Temples to explore different options within the CRM, aiming to enhance the experience for Recorders, Bankers, and other users.
Also, through a resume and interview process, I was selected to join Daughters of the Nile’s Supreme Change Council made up of 12 women with experience in Human Resources and change management – and, I am the token Canuck in the group. This initiative is part of The Supreme Temple Daughter of the Nile’s 5-year strategic plan to refresh, rethink and reinvent Daughters of the Nile so that we will remain relevant for years to come – Yes, Nile 2.0 is in the works!
As part of our Change Council, we welcomed a surprise member last month – the granddaughter of Mable R. Krows, one of our great founders. She told us: “I know my grandmother is looking down on us and saying, “I approve of all these proposed changes, ladies. Keep going!”
As Queen, my commitment to you, our valued members, is to lead our Temple with purpose, accountability, and collaboration — and my goal is to actively engage you, foster a shared vision and aim to leave our Temple in a better state than when I first took office. I ask of you one thing: Let’s continue to work together in harmony to make it a productive and fun year for all – while helping to improve the lives of our Shrine Children and their families.
With Nile Love and Hugs,
Nancy Benetton-Sampath, Queen
