Pr. Royal:

Carmen Chan

I had worked in the banking industry for over 40 years that most of my career wa spent working for one of the largest multinational banks where I was able to procure different skill sets, including analytical and marketing. I had recently retired from BMO where my last job title was Credit Risk Analyst in the Risk & Internal Control Department and I was licensed to trade in the Toronto Stock Exchange.  With my extensive working experience internationally, I am sure I can bring in different perspectives from other countries which would certainly be beneficial for running the business for the Temple.

I believe in philanthropic work and every little thing helps is my mortal! If people in the world could put aside their differences to helping others in need, we would have a better world to live.  That’s why I have joined the Masonic Fraternity becoming member of the Orders of Eastern Star and the Daughters of Nile.  I had been Worthy Matron in 2 OES Chapters in 2019-21 & in 2022 respectively, and I’m currently the Treasurer in one of those chapters.

Little Bit about Me:

I was born in Hong Kong and have only one son from my first marriage.  I came to Canada in 1996 together with my son who was 13 years old at the time. With almost no help from others, I was able to support him to graduating from University of Toronto Computer Science. He’s the best son one could ask for as I never needed to worry about his studies.  We’re more like brother and sister than mother and son. He’s been back to Hong Kong 10 years ago for better career development.

I got married with Noble Ross Hughes in 2005. His family has been actively involved in the Masonic & Shrine Fraternities for generations, in particular his grand mother PQ Neata Sarvis.  He’s a Past President of Leaside Shrine Club, currently member of the Ritualistic Caste, Lakeshore Shrine Club & Belleville Shrine Club. He’s also a two time Master, 6 times First Principal of Royal Arch Mason, Presiding Preceptor, Provincial Grand Prior in 2019-22, and member of 3 other York Right Bodies & a Past Chapter Dad for Demolay.

My hobbies include traveling (I’d visited many countries in the world), exploring different kind of restaurants, RV’ing and playing music.  My husband and I are members of several bands playing different instruments.
