We support the Supreme Temple, Daughters of the Nile Foundation to help our special children who are patients in the Shriners Hospitals.
We contribute to the Canadian Foundation through individual, wills and bequests and various donor programs.
Receipts for charitable contributions are provided for tax purposes. Working together for the children we use all monetary donations to promote, support and maintain the charitable endeavors that enhance the medical care and treatment of the children. This could include prostheses or artificial limbs, braces etc., as well as funding research.
As children grow, these special items must be replaced on an ongoing basis and new children are consistently being admitted to our hospitals.
Convalescent Endowment Fund and a Convalescent Relief Fund.
The Convalescent Relief Fund (CRF) is an account that receives donations for what we call an “active account.” On March 31st of each year the total balance of this account is sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children – Canada located in Montreal to assist with the costs of many necessities for the children as well as orthopaedic, research, educational requirements and comfort zones. Basically anything that is done for the well-being of the children both medically and emotionally.
The donations to the Convalescent Endowment Fund, often known as the CEF, can never be withdrawn; however, on the 1st of April each year, the interest earned on this account for the current year is transferred to the CRF. The more active the Convalescent Endowment Fund is, the larger the deposit to the Convalescent Relief Fund will be. Our largest promoter to the CEF account is the My Gift Programme. This program has gifts, which are available at various levels of donations.
In 2011, our annual contributions from Daughters of the Nile to the Shriners Hospitals for Children exceeded over $50 Million in total and marked the year we treated our one-millionth child.
